In what's become a running theme this season, the Battle Spartans gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Capital City with a sharp 81-56 win. Given Battle's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Capital City is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tate Mccubbin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Vernell Holt was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Battle's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-4. As for Capital City, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Battle will take on Helias at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Battle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Capital City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Miller Career Academy. Capital City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Miller Career Academy likes a good challenge.
