Baseball Game Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies

The Westminster Lions will square off against the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Westminster has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Westminster had taken Santa Ana down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Westminster fell just short of Santa Ana by a score of 6-5.

Nathan Bernal made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Damian Canul, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Godinez Fundamental had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Cavaliers.

Westminster dropped their record down to 4-5-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Godinez Fundamental, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

Westminster came out on top in a nail-biter against Godinez Fundamental in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will Westminster repeat their success, or does Godinez Fundamental has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
