It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Kenedy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Schulenburg Shorthorns 5-4. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Shorthorns, too.
Karsen Reyes made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan White, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Rayden Renya, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Kenedy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Schulenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Kenedy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Shorthorns: the pair will be back at it again later today.
