The Western Wildcats will challenge the West Broward Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Western sitting on four straight wins and West Broward on five.
Western is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Park Vista a 3-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Ali Solo's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Analie Diaz, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coral Reef typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday West Broward proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Barracudas with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.
Cheyanne Chaffin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Alivia Artanis was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ava Difato, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
West Broward was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Western pushed their record up to 19-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for West Broward, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Western might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from West Broward when the teams last played back in April. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
