Last Friday, Western Hills strolled past Hughes with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. 58 seems to be a good number for Western Hills as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Withrow escaped with a win on Friday against Woodward by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53. The win was just what Withrow needed coming off of a 65-43 defeat in their prior matchup.
Michael Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Jordan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Western Hills is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Withrow, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
Western Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over Withrow in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 60-51. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Johnson, who scored 26 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Western Hills still be able to contain him?
