The Epiphany Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-34 bruising from Pungo Christian Academy. Epiphany has not had much luck with Pungo Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Epiphany lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alanna Moye . Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. Moye scored a full 58.8% of Epiphany's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma French, who scored seven points.
Pungo Christian Academy was led to victory by Ginny Pugh and Allison Sawyer. Pugh scored 14 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Sawyer dropped a double-double on 25 points and 22 rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Pugh.
Epiphany's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Epiphany will look to defend their home court on Monday against Pamlico Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. Pamlico Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Epiphany's offense will have their work cut out for Epiphany. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they will face off against Brunswick Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brunswick Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pungo Christian Academy in their respective states (Brunswick Academy is ranked 119th in Virginia, while Pungo Christian Academy is ranked 273rd in North Carolina).
