CJ Sipp was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Matlock, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pe Ell/Willapa Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Rochester waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Eagles.
Layna Demers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mckenna Vassar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Cheyenne Justice was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Pe Ell/Willapa Valley pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Rochester, their record is now 10-3.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .566. However, it's not like Rochester struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pe Ell/Willapa Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Rochester in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pe Ell/Willapa Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
