Last Monday, La Salle Academy faced Bishop Hendricken in a battle between two of the state's top teams. La Salle Academy came out on top against Bishop Hendricken by a score of 61-51.
Meanwhile, Woonsocket's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Central 61-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Woonsocket's loss came about despite a quality game from Angel Hernandez, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hernandez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Juelz Stengel, who scored 12 points.
La Salle Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Woonsocket, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Everything went La Salle Academy's way against Woonsocket in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as La Salle Academy made off with a 71-48 victory. Will La Salle Academy repeat their success, or does Woonsocket have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
