The Hopi Bruins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a hard 53-36 fall against Valley. While losing is never fun, Hopi can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Pirates are ranked 100th).
Kaelynn Nez was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds for Valley. Nez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last seven games she's played. Trinity Mitchell was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Hopi dropped their record down to 7-16 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Valley, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
Hopi does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valley will head out on the road to face off against the Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Round Valley will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
