Basketball Recap: Corpus Christi United Falls Despite Big Games from Ben Lopez and Josh Lindsey

Corpus Christi United was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 74-59 bruising from the Science and Tech Stingrays. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (57), the Watchmen still had to take the loss.

Corpus Christi United's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Josh Lindsey, who posted 26 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, and Ben Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 44.1% of Corpus Christi United's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emanuel Lopez, who put up nine points.

Even though they lost, Corpus Christi United was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Corpus Christi United's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Science and Tech, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.

Corpus Christi United will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Annapolis Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th. Corpus Christi United is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Science and Tech, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Corpus Christi United at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
