The Dodgeville Dodgers are taking a road trip to take on the New Glarus Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dodgeville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.
Dodgeville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Lancaster on Friday. The Dodgers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Flying Arrows a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Dodgers have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jayce Halverson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Jack Graber was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Dodgeville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, New Glarus fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Marshall on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 7-6. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Kamm Nehmer put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Nolan Julseth made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
New Glarus' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4-1. As for Dodgeville, their win bumped their record up to 14-1.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dodgeville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like New Glarus struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dodgeville came out on top in a nail-biter against New Glarus when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dodgers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
