It was a good run, but Ira unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were dealt a 73-45 loss at the hands of the Hermleigh Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while the Cardinals are ranked 198th).

Ira's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-9. As for Hermleigh, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-4.

Ira will square off against Trent at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Ira is facing Trent at the right time seeing as Trent is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hermleigh, they will be playing at home against Highland at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
