The Ridgeland-Hardeeville Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 66-45 loss at the hands of Dreher. While losing is never fun, Ridgeland-Hardeeville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Dreher is ranked 106th).
Despite the loss, Ridgeland-Hardeeville still got an impressive performance from Poncie Capers, who scored 15 points. Capers is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Kalen Riddles was another key contributor, scoring three points.
Dreher found their leader in underclassman Jamere Singleton, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Austin Glasscho, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Dreher, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville on the road again on Tuesday and play against Barnwell at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Barnwell is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Dreher, they will be playing at home against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Maurion Gordon and Singleton.
