The St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs will challenge the Southern Door Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, St. Mary Catholic beat Manitowoc Lutheran 6-2.
Ethan Plutz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mason Wagner was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for St. Mary Catholic: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joe Pirillo, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Southern Door can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They blew past Sturgeon Bay 13-2. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Southern Door also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Drew Daoust gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyler Neinas, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Collin Everard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
Southern Door was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
St. Mary Catholic now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Southern Door, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Everything went St. Mary Catholic's way against Southern Door in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as St. Mary Catholic made off with an 11-0 win. Will the Zephyrs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
