The Purvis Tornadoes lost against the Sumrall Bobcats back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Purvis took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sumrall. Purvis has struggled against Sumrall recently, as their contest on Thursday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Purvis still got an impressive performance from Jacoby Robinson, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Robinson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tytus Bridges, who scored seven points along with five assists and four steals.
Purvis' loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Sumrall, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purvis will square off against Forrest County Agricultural at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sumrall, they will head out on the road to challenge Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
