It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Piedmont Hills Pirates ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Harker with a 72-66 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for Piedmont Hills as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Piedmont Hills' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Subeg Rai, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Rai's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brian Pham, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Harker lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bowen Xia, who scored 18 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Zhang, who scored 18 points.
The win got Piedmont Hills back to even at 6-6. As for Harker, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Piedmont Hills will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Ann Sobrato at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ann Sobrato will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Harker will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Collegiate at 5:00 p.m. on January 3rd.
