The Jay Mustangs will square off against the Alamo Heights Mules at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jay comes in on 18 and Alamo Heights on three.
Jay is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 72-40 victory over Edison. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 23 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Zachariah Linson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards. He has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jarrius Jackson Jr, who posted 12 points.
Jay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Alamo Heights posted their biggest win since January 7th on Tuesday. They blew past Rouse 67-44. Given the Mules' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Raiders are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jay better focus on containing Gunnar Jones and Alex Elliott as the pair were huge in Alamo Heights' win. Jones went 5-for-7 on his way to 12 points and six boards, while Elliott earned ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. That's the most assists Elliott has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Johnson, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points.
Alamo Heights pushed their record up to 27-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Jay, their record is now 32-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Jay has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Alamo Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Jay was able to grind out a solid win over Alamo Heights in their previous matchup back in November of 2015, winning 62-49. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Alamo Heights' Jhonathan Dunn, who went 9-for-15 en route to 20 points and five boards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Jay to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
