On Friday Fitchburg will take on Groton-Dunstable at 7:00 PM. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
Fitchburg have to be hurting after a devastating 7-35 defeat at the hands of Westborough last Saturday. The state rankings had actually given Fitchburg a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Groton-Dunstable, and their matchup last Friday only extended their streak of losses to five. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-28 punch to the gut against Marlborough. The blowout was painful but not necessarily a suprise as Marlborough enjoys a considerable advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the win. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
