The South Barber Chieftains lost against the Stafford Trojans back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. South Barber fell to Stafford 36-32. South Barber has not had much luck with Stafford recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Stafford found their leader in underclassman Jake Simmons, who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simmons has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jimi Oleson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
South Barber's loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1. As for Stafford, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Barber will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Attica on January 30th. Attica is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Stafford, they will head out on the road to square off against Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Fairfield is ranked 233rd, while Stafford is ranked 242nd).
