TAMPA, Fla. - A big 21-point first quarter helped carry the Crusaders to a 41-0 victory over Lakeland Christian (Lakeland, Fla.) on Saturday.
Tampa Catholic scored on a
TJ Harrell touchdown run, a touchdown pass by
Kyle Ploucher to
Justin Motlow and a touchdown run by Harrell in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Harrell in the first quarter, TC was up 34-0 at the half.
The Tampa school expanded its lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. The Crusaders' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Jalen Dickenson.
With the win Tampa Catholic extended its winning streak to seven games. Tampa Catholic defeated Berkeley Prep 17-10 last week.
TC had given up an average of 11.7 points prior to the contest. The zero points that the Vikings ended with were well below their average of 34.3 coming into the game.
Tampa Catholic (7-1) will play a 3A District 4 game against Bishop McLaughlin Catholic next week, while Lakeland Christian (6-2) will take on Fort Meade also in a 3A District 4 game.
