After flying high against the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights on Thursday, the West Warwick Wizards came back down to earth. West Warwick took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central Falls on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Warwick has scored all season.
West Warwick lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caden Lapierre, who scored 11 points. Lapierre continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Stearns, who scored 17 points.
Central Falls got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamilson DePina out in front who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. DePina has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Moises Maldonado was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
West Warwick now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Central Falls, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Warwick will take on Scituate at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Scituate is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Central Falls, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on St. Patrick Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (St. Patrick Academy is ranked 45th, while Central Falls is ranked 37th).
