Despite the defeat, Croatan saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kannon McBride dropped a double-double with 27 points and 12 boards. McBride has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hilliard, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 23 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Carteret to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jay Murray, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Murray a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Jejuan Tripp, who shot 7-for-13 from deep and dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds.
Croatan's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for West Carteret, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
