Eastern has gone a perfect 7-0 against West Union recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Dragons at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Eastern has four straight victories, West Union has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Eastern had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Whiteoak on Friday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Allie Grooms was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April.

In other batting news, Eastern let Emmery Simpson and Breeanna Jimison run wild. Simpson went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Jimison went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Simpson a new career-high. Tabby Schumacher also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Eastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.
North Adams hit West Union with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons lost 12-5 to the Green Devils.
Lylah Adams and MacKenzie Stout did some serious damage despite the final result: Adams went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run, while Stout went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs.
West Union's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Eastern, their record is now 14-4.
West Union's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eastern hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for West Union, though, as they've only averaged .237. Will they be able to contain Eastern's hitters?
Eastern took their victory against West Union in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
