Basketball Recap: Durham Academy Piles Up the Points Against Cristo Rey Research Triangle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Durham Academy). They really took it to the Cristo Rey Research Triangle Bulls for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-8 victory. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 27 points or more this season.

Durham Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Freedman out in front who went 6 of 9 en route to 14 points along with five boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Freedman a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarra Abdelbarr, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points and four steals.

Durham Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Durham Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Cristo Rey Research Triangle, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Durham Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-18 win against Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill on the 13th. Cristo Rey Research Triangle will take on The Burlington School in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on December 17th.
