I-70 recap September 17, 2013
Ethan Matthews and Nathan Vogelsmeier provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lone Jack. The connection went for 59 yards, the longest such play in I-70 this season.
St. Paul Lutheran took down Orrick 77-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Joey Brandon was the best running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 114 yards as the Mules lost to Concordia. Teammate Alex Costanza added to the ground attack by rushing for 14 yards.
Vogelsmeier was the best wideout in the league this week as the Greyhounds fell to the Fighting Orioles. Vogelsmeier tallied 6 receptions for 225 yards.
Jeffery Hall provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sweet Springs fell to Concordia. He completed 7 passes for 223 yards and also ran for 53 yards.
Vogelsmeier had an awesome week catching the football as Melvin Baker's team lost to John Cox's team.
Matthews put up the best numbers through the air as Crest Ridge topped Lone Jack. He finished with a total of 7 completions for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. Matthews' favorite target this week was Dallas Hoffman, who caught 3 passes for 77 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Vogelsmeier. The Sweet Springs star has 8 catches for 244 yards.
The Fighting Orioles are currently in fourth, while the Saints are in first.
The Cougars made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,909 from 10,026. The advance stemmed from a 23-7 victory over Jason Fenstermaker's team last week.
