The Cleveland Heights Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 54-46 to Brunswick. While losing is never fun, Cleveland Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while Brunswick is ranked 153rd).
Despite the defeat, Cleveland Heights had strong showings from Skylar McCall, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Paige Swoope, who scored 14 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that McCall pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Robbie Caldwell, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Cleveland Heights has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 2-6. As for Brunswick, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cleveland Heights will be home for the holidays to greet Riverside at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brunswick will be home for the holidays to greet Shaker Heights at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shaker Heights is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
