Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Isabella). Everything went their way against the Dallas County Hornets on Thursday as the Isabella Mustangs made off with a 23-5 victory. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on five straight.
Eli Boatwright made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Boatwright was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Austin Porter was incredible, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. What's more, he posted four hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Levi Wilkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Isabella always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Isabella's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 14.67 hits in those games compared to only 5.4 in the others. As for Dallas County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
