Jensen Beach and John Carroll Catholic are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Jensen Beach Falcons will challenge the John Carroll Catholic Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Jensen Beach came up short against South Fork on Tuesday, falling 7-1. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, John Carroll Catholic entered their tilt with Treasure Coast on Wednesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Titans.
Makayla Ortiz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, John Carroll Catholic got a massive performance out of Victoria O'Brien, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that O'Brien hit this season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Ramirez, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
John Carroll Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Jensen Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for John Carroll Catholic, their record is now 5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jensen Beach has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like John Carroll Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Jensen Beach skirted past John Carroll Catholic 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jensen Beach since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
