A well-balanced attack led the Knightdale Knights over the Wake Forest Cougars in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Knightdale was the clear victor by a 61-38 margin over Wake Forest. Given Knightdale's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Wake Forest is ranked 489th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Knightdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jason Dickerson led the charge by scoring 17 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Dickerson posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalel Sanders, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Wake Forest saw an underclassman step up: Palmer Chase scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Braeden Markel, who scored six points.
The victory was the third in a row for Knightdale, bringing their record for this year to 11-4. As for Wake Forest, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Knightdale will take on Heritage at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Wake Forest, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wakefield at 7:45 p.m.
