Bullitt East has gone 8-1 against Fern Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Chargers will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Bullitt East is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Bullitt East proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 16) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Ballard 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted against the Bruins since May 9, 2015.
Bullitt East let Alivia Cooper and Mollie Johnston run wild. Cooper went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Johnston went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Bryant, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Bullitt East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Fern Creek unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mercy.
Bullitt East's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Fern Creek, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-13.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bullitt East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Fern Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
