The Piedmont Classical Bobcats won the last time they faced the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals, and things went their way on Friday too. Piedmont Classical blew past Cornerstone Charter 64-32 on the road. With Piedmont Classical ahead 34-10 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Piedmont Classical got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ge'Kayla Goins out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 steals. The game was Goins' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marti Holley, who scored 9 points along with 11 steals and 5 assists.
When it comes to explaining why Cornerstone Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaylen Williamson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Williamson scored a full 62.5% of Cornerstone Charter's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Piedmont Classical's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Cornerstone Charter, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Piedmont Classical will be playing at home against College Prep & Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cornerstone Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Bethany at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bethany is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
