Cigarroa is 0-3 against Southwest since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cigarroa Toros will be playing in front of their home fans against the Southwest Dragons at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Cigarroa: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Southwest has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Last Friday, Cigarroa had to suffer through a rough 42-7 loss at the hands of Nixon. Cigarroa was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Meanwhile, after only 12 points in their last contest, Southwest made sure to put some points up on the board against South San Antonio on Friday. Southwest simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South San Antonio 35-7 at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Southwest just coasted through the last quarter.
Aazeryuan Voss was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown. Tyson Deen also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Nixon's win bumped their season record to 5-3 while Cigarroa's defeat dropped theirs to 0-8.
Cigarroa lost to Southwest at home by a decisive 28-14 margin in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Cigarroa, Brayan Lizama (who rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
