Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Waterloo's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Waterloo never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Covenant Christian Eagles with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Georgiana Kavich's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Claire Cooper, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Clara Lambert, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Waterloo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Covenant Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Coincidentally, Waterloo and Covenant Christian will both be playing Shoals Christian the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Flame at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Cougars will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
