The High Point Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Parkdale Panthers at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. High Point is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
On Wednesday, High Point made easy work of DuVal and carried off a 12-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Yojancel Soto and Ramon Brito Jr were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Soto struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Brito Jr tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Soto got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Brito Jr got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, High Point let Wander Pe?a and Keysi Matos run wild. Pe?a went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Matos went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Pe?a a new career-high. Mathew Herrera also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
High Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Parkdale hadn't done well against Eleanor Roosevelt recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 24th.
Ewan Stark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Chris Arredondo was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Velasquez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
High Point's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Parkdale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. High Point has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Parkdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .515. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went High Point's way against Parkdale in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as High Point made off with a 15-1 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
