AAAAA Region 4A recap Nov. 7, 2012
Derrick Craine of Union Grove ran for the longest rushing play in AAAAA Region 4A this season against Drew last week. Craine's team beat Drew as he sprinted for 82 yards on the play and finished with 310 in all.
Union Grove took down Drew 26-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Craine caught two passes for six yards in the win.
The Wolverines' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jonathan Slade threw for 191 and one touchdown and Caleb Ham had 103 yards receiving. Terry Gibbs helped Union Grove's passing attack out by catching five balls for 83 yards.
Kyle Bailey made the biggest impact on defense this week as Forest Park lost to Mt. Zion. The 6-foot-0 junior grabbed one interception.
Union Grove's Slade and Ham have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Slade has thrown for 862 yards this season, while Ham, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 17 catches for 411 yards. Mundy's Mill's Rodney Smith leads the league in rushing yards with 1575.
The Tigers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,863 from 5,309. The improvement was the result of 35-20 victory over Ola last week.
