It was a good run, but the Central Jaguars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Ponce De Leon by a score of 54-51. Central lost against Ponce De Leon in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-43 score last time.
Despite the loss, Central had strong showings from Lily Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Autumn Boutwell, who scored 17 points. Boutwell scored a full 33.3% of Central's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hatcher Sasha, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Ponce De Leon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will challenge L.E.A.D. Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully L.E.A.D. Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Monday. As for Ponce De Leon, they will head out on the road to face off against Niceville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
