West Shore is 0-5 against Melbourne since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The West Shore Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Melbourne Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. West Shore will be strutting in after a victory while Melbourne will be coming in after a defeat.
West Shore scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They snuck past Bayside with a 65-61 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Beau Couture and Christian Rebec were among the main playmakers for West Shore as the former dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds and the latter scored 24 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rebec has scored at least 25% of West Shore's points. Another player making a difference was Garrett Martin, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Melbourne managed to keep up with Satellite until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Melbourne suffered a tough 62-42 loss at the hands of Satellite. While losing is never fun, Melbourne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Satellite is ranked 145th).
West Shore's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Melbourne, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
West Shore might still be hurting after the 64-39 loss they got from Melbourne when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can West Shore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
