The Huntington Highlanders's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Capital Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Huntington has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 306 points over their last four contests.
On Saturday, Huntington faced the Mohigans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Huntington was dealt a 98-57 loss at the hands of the Mohigans. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Huntington in their matchups with the Mohigans: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their defeat, Huntington saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jayden Clark, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Mikey Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Capital's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 69-62 to Cabell Midland. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Huntington's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Capital, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Huntington strolled past the Cougars in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 77-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Huntington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
