The Howard Wildcats have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Mount Pleasant Green Knights at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Saturday, Howard faced Archmere Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Howard fell 13-6 to Archmere Academy.
Loss or not, Howard got some senior leadership from Robert Kelly who picked up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown and Rahsaan Matthews, Jr who threw for 223 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 37-14 walloping at the hands of Wilmington Friends.
Howard's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mount Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Howard was able to grind out a solid victory over Mount Pleasant when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 20-7. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mount Pleasant's Dahmir Byrd, who rushed for 144 yards on only 15 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Howard to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
