Baseball Recap: Handley Has No Trouble Against Central of Coosa County

It was a proper cat-fight when Handley took on Central of Coosa County on Thursday. The Handley Tigers were the clear victor by a 17-6 margin over the Central of Coosa County Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Tigers have posted since March 30, 2024.

Cordan Patterson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Patterson was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ben Pike and Brody Esttes did most of the damage at the plate: Pike went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Esttes scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Esttes a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Powel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Handley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Central of Coosa County, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Handley will take on Ranburne at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central of Coosa County, they will challenge Dadeville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
