On Friday, the Lee County Yellow Jackets's game was all tied up 29-29 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They rang in the new year with a 64-51 win over Jordan-Matthews. That's another feather in the cap for Lee County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Lee County was led to victory by Kamaree Butler and Nic Farrow. Butler scored 19 points, while Farrow scored 21 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Farrow has scored at least 25% of Lee County's points. Another player making a difference was Ronnie Hooker, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Lee County's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7. As for Jordan-Matthews, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee County is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Pinecrest at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Pinecrest presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lee County in North Carolina (Pinecrest is ranked 122nd, while Lee County is ranked 450th). As for Jordan-Matthews, they will head out on the road to face off against Bartlett Yancey at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bartlett Yancey knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Jordan-Matthews likes a good challenge.
