After having lost a blowout in their previous game against TERRA Environmental, the Homestead Broncos were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They secured a 54-48 W over South Dade. Given Homestead's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while South Dade is ranked 547th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Homestead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Rodriguez, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Rodney Holmes was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Homestead's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for South Dade, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Homestead will head out on the road to take on Varela at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Dade, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Southwest and three for South Dade.
