The Ooltewah Owls''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 42-12 loss at the hands of Coffee County Central. Ooltewah was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.
Although Ooltewah took the loss, they still got scores from Josh Davis and Brent Baddley.
Jayden Carter was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Ooltewah to a paltry 28 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Coffee County Central's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Claudio Vik and his two sacks.
Ooltewah's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.5 points per game. As for Coffee County Central, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ooltewah will take on Howard Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Howard Tech is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Coffee County Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Blackman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
