The Southside Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Greenville Christian Academy, falling 68-36. Southside Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greenville Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Southside Christian still got an impressive performance from Luke Boush, who scored 16 points. That was a full 44.4% of Southside Christian's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Pope, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Greenville Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Williams led the charge by scoring 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Dial, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Southside Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Greenville Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Southside Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kerr-Vance Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Greenville Christian Academy, they will face off against Juniata Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Juniata Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
