Softball Game Preview: Springfield Renaissance vs. Commerce Red Raiders

Springfield Renaissance will look to defend their home field against Commerce at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pena is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Mariah Dandridge was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Commerce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Pathfinder RVT, falling 13-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Commerce's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Springfield Renaissance, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-7.

Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Springfield Renaissance has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .543. However, it's not like Commerce struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
