Gabrielle Hughes and Skylar Young made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Hughes tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Young pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hughes went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run, while Young went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lila Riggan, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Stone, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
North Florida Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, St. John Paul II entered their tilt with St. Joseph Academy on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Flashes get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.
