Baseball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Pocahontas County Warriors

The Highland Rams will challenge the Pocahontas County Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Highland took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Pocahontas County with a sharp 17-4 victory. The Rams not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024.

Patton Hull and John Wagner did most of the damage at the plate: Hull scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Wagner scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Wagner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Carpenter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Highland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pocahontas County only posted an OBP of .464.

Pocahontas County dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Highland, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Highland took their victory against Pocahontas County in their previous matchup on Thursday by a conclusive 17-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
