After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Veterans, the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They came out on top against Lee County by a score of 59-51. Given Thomas County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Lee County is ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Travesha Giddens, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Giddens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmonee Ross, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Thomas County Central's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Lee County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas County Central will challenge Bainbridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lee County, Lee County and Veterans will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing is sure in Veterans' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Lee County has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
