The Chaparral Pumas can finally bid farewell to their 11-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 76-64 win over Murrieta Valley. Chaparral's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Chaparral's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JoJo Bartlett led the charge by scoring 24 points along with six assists. Bartlett is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Creamer, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Murrieta Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Casillas, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Casillas has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Steffen, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Chaparral's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-18. As for Murrieta Valley, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral will take on the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista Murrieta knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully the Pumas likes a good challenge. As for Murrieta Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Temecula Valley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
