The Ponca Indians put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Wakefield 49-33. Given Ponca's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Trojans are ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Wakefield saw an underclassman step up: Jacob Borg scored 13 points.
Ponca's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Wakefield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.
Ponca will face off against the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wakefield is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Bees at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st. Bloomfield is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
